When you order the CT GateSense, you receive a ceiling-mounted UHF RAIN RFID reader built specifically for gates, portals and overhead doorways. The panel from CRAFT Technologies captures transponders fully automatically and forwards the data straight to your warehouse management, production control or asset tracking platform. Delivery includes the complete unit with built-in 6 dBi narrow-beam antenna, power supply and the full software toolkit – commissioning runs over TCP/IP and, optionally, via PoE, WiFi or RS232.

At the technical core, the CT GateSense operates with an adjustable RF output power of 0 to 33 dBm and reaches a reading range of up to 6 metres. As a RAIN RFID gateway compliant with EPC Class1 Gen2 (ISO 18000-6C), the device can be configured for the European 865–868 MHz band or the US 902–928 MHz band. RSSI is fully supported for accurate position evaluation, and three operating modes – active, command and trigger – cover every common read strategy, from continuous scanning to event-driven capture.

An optional millimetre-wave radar module adds directional motion detection, turning the reader into a combined RFID and presence-sensing solution for entry and exit applications. A three-colour LED light strip and an EAS alarm provide instant visual and audible feedback directly at the gate, so operators and forklift drivers see the read result without checking a screen.

The housing is built from aluminium alloy with an acrylic front cover, measures 650 × 330 × 27.5 mm and weighs 3.1 kg. With IP65 protection, an operating temperature range of -10 °C to +55 °C and power consumption below 10 W, the panel is engineered for permanent industrial duty. Development is supported in C#, Delphi, Java, Python and VB, so integration with ERP, WMS and MES systems works without detours.

For long-term industrial operation, password and mask functions protect the reader against unauthorised access, while online firmware upgrades keep the device current. The configurable IP monitoring feature lets you manage multiple GateSense readers centrally – an ideal setup for distributed sites and multi-gate rollouts.
