Inside, the Impinj M830 IC delivers 128-bit EPC and 96-bit TID. The M830 is part of the current Gen2X generation and offers significantly higher sensitivity than the previous IC generations – the technical lever that makes the 40 m read range possible in the first place, without having to scale up the tag form factor. In the EU 865–868 MHz band, the tag delivers the stated 40 m on metal and up to 25 m off metal, which means it provides more read range on plastic and wood surfaces than most classic outdoor tags achieve on metal.

Measuring 139 x 42.20 x 12 mm and weighing 50 g, the Container OUTDOOR is the largest member of the OUTDOOR line – a deliberate trade-off in favour of the antenna footprint required to achieve the read range. The industry-grade polymer housing is UV-resistant and waterproof, the IP68 rating seals the tag against dust and continuous water exposure, and the verified shock resistance (1 m drop on concrete/granite) together with MIL-STD-810G vibration testing qualify the tag for the rough realities of outdoor operations.
